Converse SHAI 001 Lace Up Debuts New Collection On August 14
ALEX NGUYEN•August 10, 2026
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is closing out his final chapter with Converse through a notable redesign of his debut signature shoe. The SHAI 001 Lace Up drops the zippered shroud that defined the original silhouette, moving instead to a traditional lace-up build more familiar to performance basketball footwear. It also marks the first time the SHAI 001 line has been offered in kids' sizing, extending the model's reach after a year on shelves.

The collection arrives in three colorways, each with its own identity. "Berry" wraps the shoe in a bold pink, set off by a contrasting beige collar. "Lime" pairs neon green with grey for a clean two-tone effect. The standout of the trio is "Cheetah," built on a tan base and joined by Volt accents and cheetah-print detailing on the tongue for a three-tone finish. All three pairs were previously spotted on Gilgeous-Alexander during pregame tunnel walks before receiving their full official reveal.

To mark this closing chapter, Converse tapped multi-disciplinary artist Jacob Rochester to create hand-drawn illustrations exclusive to the SHAI 001 Lace Up, giving the release its own distinct visual identity. The timing also reflects a broader transition for Gilgeous-Alexander, as the Oklahoma City Thunder star prepares to move his signature shoe deal from Converse to Nike outright, Converse's parent company, effectively closing out his partnership with the Star Chevron brand after the SHAI 001. Before turning the page, he confirmed there are still a few more releases to finish under the Converse name.
The SHAI 001 Lace Up "Berry" and "Lime" colorways officially hit shelves on August 14, 2026, priced at $120 for adult sizing and $100 for kids' sizing, while the "Cheetah" colorway follows on September 3, 2026 at the same price point.
