Hellstar X Adidas Megaride S2: Flames In Silver Take Over A Retro Runner
ALEX NGUYEN•August 06, 2026
Hellstar continues to expand its partnership with adidas, this time turning to the Megaride S2 as the canvas for the Los Angeles label's signature visual language. This marks the third collaboration between the two, following earlier releases on the Superstar and Anthony Edwards' AE 2, and it stands out as the first release positioned as a global drop rather than a regional, limited rollout.

The Story Behind The Partnership
Megaride is a mechanical cushioning technology that debuted in 2004, once regarded as adidas' answer to Nike's Shox. Hellstar's choice of the Megaride S2 for this project is no coincidence, given that early-2000s retro-futurism has long been a recurring reference point in the brand's design output. The pairing of adidas' cushioning heritage with Hellstar's bold graphic identity results in a silhouette with a distinct, recognizable presence.

Design Details On The Shoe
A white and silver base anchors the colorway, with layered flame graphics stretching across both sides of the Upper in a gradient treatment. The traditional lacing system is replaced by a zippered shroud, a detail closely tied to Y2K-era aesthetics. The Megaride cushioning pods at the heel are finished in metallic silver, echoing the Hellstar branding placed on the tongue, lateral side, and heel. A translucent Outsole is also used to reveal oversized flame graphics underneath, adding depth to the design rather than treating it as a flat decorative element.
What Comes Next For The Collaboration

Alongside the standard release, a matching American football cleat carrying the same colorway and flame treatment is expected to arrive, following the same path adidas took when it adapted the Hellstar x Superstar into a cleat for the previous football season. If that pattern holds, it would mark a logical extension of a broader seasonal campaign tied to the start of the American football season. The Hellstar x adidas Megaride S2 is set to launch on August 8 at a retail price of $200.
