Jordan Triangle "NY Vs. NY": A New Silhouette Carrying On The Streetball Story
ALEX NGUYEN•July 28, 2026
The Jordan Triangle isn't a Retro pulling from the past, it's a completely new performance silhouette from Jordan Brand. The brand chose a fairly distinctive way to introduce it, through a series of events tied to street basketball culture in different cities. Donald Kelsey, senior director of basketball and promo footwear at Jordan, called it a new chapter for the brand's basketball footwear line.
The Story Behind Jordan Triangle "NY Vs. NY"
The "NY vs. NY" colorway marks the first stop on that journey, drawing direct inspiration from New York's summer streetball scene. This also marks the eighth consecutive year Nike Basketball has run the program, set against legendary courts like Dyckman, Rucker Park, and Gersh. These are the courts that raised both hip hop and basketball from the start, where the two cultures grew up side by side and shaped each other for decades.
Design And The Watercolor Colorway
The upper features a watercolor pattern blending pink, purple, orange, blue, and black, an approach that channels the city's graffiti spirit rather than a safe, formulaic palette. The cream tongue and laces play a neutralizing role, keeping the overall look from feeling too busy. Pops of pink hit the eyelets, the Jumpman logo, and the midsole, while the black rubber outsole and toe wrap deliver a contrast familiar across plenty of past Jordan silhouettes.
Mismatched Details And Included Accessories
The most interesting part sits on the tongue. One side is embroidered with "NY vs. NY," while the other keeps the traditional Jumpman branding, and the sockliners follow the same mismatched formula. A black heel pull tab embroidered with a pink Jordan wordmark rounds out the details. The included box carries a watercolor theme that matches the upper, tying the concept together from the shoe itself down to the packaging, not just the upper.

Price And Release Date
The Jordan Triangle "NY vs. NY" is priced at $155, releasing July 28th on Nike's website and at authorized Jordan Brand retailers. For anyone who's been following the Triangle line since the start of the year, this might be the release with the sharpest cultural story yet.
