Nike Ja 4 "NY vs. NY": A Colorway Built for New York Streetball
ALEX NGUYEN•August 13, 2026
The Nike Ja 4 keeps Ja Morant's signature line rooted in street culture with the "NY vs. NY" colorway, a nod to the city's annual streetball tournament that brings together standout high school players from all five boroughs, where borough pride takes center stage every summer.
The upper runs a gradient from Persian Violet into Rio Teal, echoing the visual language of the earlier "Jaws" release. Fruit Punch accents land on the reversed Swoosh and the midfoot support piece, cutting sharp contrast against the base colorway. Custom "NY" lace dubraes add another layer of detail, while tournament branding appears on the left tongue and right insole, with Ja Morant's personal logo filling the opposite sides. A black outsole finishes things off with a white paint-splatter graphic across the forefoot, rounding out the shoe's playground-inspired look.

On the performance side, the Ja 4 marks a shift away from the hybrid ZoomX setup found on the Ja 3, moving instead to Cushlon 3.0 foam paired with a Super Critical Foam sockliner. The change is built around a balance of cushioning and responsiveness for explosive first steps and repeated jumps. A TPU JA-Frame continues to handle ankle lockdown, aimed at better controlling lateral force through quick direction changes.
The Nike Ja 4 "NY vs. NY" releases on August 15, 2026, priced at $140.
