Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" 2026: The Storm Officially Returns

KEN LEAugust 05, 2026

More than a decade after fading from shelves, the Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" is officially confirmed for a comeback, marking its first retro release since debuting in 2013.

The Story Behind The Storm

The Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" was one of the most talked-about colorways from Kevin Durant's early Nike years. The shoe pulls from Durant's childhood dream of becoming a weather forecaster, long before he ever picked basketball as a career. That concept carries the same energy from the beloved KD 4 "Weatherman," turning radar patterns and weather map graphics into a design language that's run through the KD line ever since.

A Design That Marked An Era

The primary Black colorway pairs with a standout Atomic Red, with hits of Medium Olive and Noble Red rounding things out into a look that's both aggressive and detailed. Weather radar-inspired graphics wrap across the upper, pulling directly from storm patterns on a meteorological map. On the silhouette side, the KD 6 sports a light, low-cut, aerodynamic build, a clear departure from the bulkier basketball models releasing around the same time.

Tech That Still Holds Up

Beyond the visuals, the KD 6 "Meteorology" backs it up with real tech. Synthetic materials pair with a Flywire setup for a locked-in fit, while a full-length Zoom Air unit delivers instant responsiveness with every step on court. That mix of performance and visual storytelling has always defined Durant's signature line, and this retro keeps that same spirit intact.

More than ten years after its original drop, Nike is bringing the Meteorology storm back to shelves, stirring up memories for anyone who followed Durant from his earliest signature seasons. The Nike KD 6 "Meteorology" is expected to officially release August 8, priced at $135.
