Nike Air Max Plus 'Mera Mera' Debuts In One Piece Collection
KEN LE•September 04, 2026
Nike continues expanding its One Piece partnership with the Mera Mera colorway on the Air Max Plus, part of the Nike Sportswear x One Piece collection called Devil Fruits. It's a rare crossover between a global anime icon and a running silhouette best known among sneakerheads for its wavy TPU cage and exposed heel Air unit, two details that have defined the Air Max Plus since its debut.

Mera Mera no Mi is the Fire-type Devil Fruit from the original One Piece story, tied to the character Portgas D. Ace and his ability to turn his body into flame at will. Nike translates that idea into a color language on the upper, turning the Air Max Plus's signature cage into an ideal surface for mimicking the flicker of fire rather than settling for a simple logo or character graphic.
A blazing orange base carries the design, fading into warm yellows and glowing ember tones, while small emerald green accents add contrast and keep the heat-heavy palette from reading as one flat block of color. The layered cage panels appear to ripple like shifting flames rather than a single solid surface. The heel Air unit keeps its familiar transparency, letting light from the cushioning underneath catch clearly with every step, while the darker outsole balances out an otherwise loud color story.

The Mera Mera colorway is one of several planned for the Devil Fruits collection, with additional pairs tied to different Devil Fruits from the One Piece universe expected to roll out across markets over time. For fans who follow both sneakers and anime, it's a chance to own a crossover design that rarely repeats on the Air Max Plus platform. The Nike Air Max Plus Mera Mera releases on September 12, 2026, priced at $180.
