Air Jordan 41 Officially Launches With Gemstone-Inspired Collection

Air Jordan 41 Officially Launches With Gemstone-Inspired Collection

ALEX NGUYENAugust 29, 2026

Jordan Brand has officially unveiled the Air Jordan 41, the newest entry in the numbered basketball silhouette that carries Michael Jordan's name. It marks the first time since the Air Jordan 40 that the brand has introduced an entirely new design platform, with the development team describing the goal as setting the previous model's legacy aside to push the shoe's visual language forward.

The technical centerpiece of the Air Jordan 41 is a Nanoprint upper, a 3D-printing technique that has never appeared on a Jordan silhouette before. The engineered mesh construction keeps the upper lightweight, flexible, and breathable without sacrificing containment. Underneath, the shoe pairs a full-length ZoomX midsole with a Zoom Air Strobel unit, plus a dedicated Zoom Air unit in the heel for added responsiveness on landing. A carbon fiber plate combined with a TPU shank runs along the lateral sidewall, delivering the torsional rigidity needed for quick direction changes while doubling as a visible design element, exposed like a transparent window into the shoe's internal tech.

The design story behind the Air Jordan 41 draws from Michael Jordan's fascination with supercars, specifically the way high-performance vehicles often expose their engines rather than hide them. The exposed carbon fiber running along the sidewall is sculpted to resemble a cut gemstone, setting up the color theme that runs through the debut collection.

The eight launch colorways are each named after a gemstone tied to a distinct idea: Ruby stands for strength and nods to the Chicago Bulls' three-peat era, Quartz represents energy, Tiger's Eye stands for courage, Amethyst symbolizes intuition and also happens to be Michael Jordan's birthstone, Jade represents balance, Meteorite stands for transformation, Pink Diamond conveys passion, and Opal signals creativity as a nod to Jordan's college years at North Carolina. Building the color story around gemstones continues Jordan Brand's approach of tying each colorway to a specific chapter of Michael Jordan's career rather than simply cycling through new tones.

According to Jordan Brand, development of the Air Jordan 41 involved direct input from Michael Jordan, Jordan Brand athletes, and young players from Nike's EYBL circuit, indicating that the shoe's tuning was shaped by on-court performance as much as by its visual identity.
