Air Jordan 8 "Chrome" Makes Its Return After More Than a Decade
ALEX NGUYEN•August 25, 2026
The classic Chrome colorway of the Air Jordan 8 is set to return, marking its first reappearance since the 2015 retro. It stands among the most talked-about colorways in the history of Michael Jordan's fourth signature shoe, which first released in 2003.

The Air Jordan 8 was designed by Tinker Hatfield for the 1992-93 season, the year Jordan completed his first three-peat with the Chicago Bulls. It remains one of the most intricate builds in the entire signature line, defined by its crossover straps and support cables, details that gave the shoe a locked-in feel rarely matched by basketball sneakers of its era.
Chrome keeps most of that original structure intact but takes a more restrained approach than some of the Air Jordan 8's busier colorways. A black nubuck upper anchors the design, while silver and white accents are placed throughout for contrast. The standout element is the midfoot strap buckle, finished in polished chrome, giving the shoe a reflective, metallic quality that the silhouette's more traditional matte releases don't share.

Chrome's return fits into Jordan Brand's broader pattern of revisiting the early and mid-2000s chapters of its signature archive, a period widely regarded as foundational to the brand's identity. For those who have followed the Air Jordan 8 across its various retros, Chrome holds its own place, striking a balance between the original silhouette's detail and a fresher take on color.
The Air Jordan 8 "Chrome" releases on August 29, 2026 for $215.
